Destiny Biocentric enterprises is Informal group of 10 young people with the objectives of; 1.Training people on how to use and produce briquette charcoal from agricultural wastes and wood waste residues as alternative efficient energy sources in homes, institutions and commercial activities in villages and towns. 2. Introducing efficient cost effective energy saving firewood and charcoal stoves to households and Institutions. In Uganda, over 90% of the households depend on wood for cooking. 81.5% use firewood while 15% use charcoal. In industry, it accounts for the four times the primary energy as electricity and petroleum combined. Many communities living in Northern and Eastern regions of Uganda are faced with very few options of economic activities. The regions are prone to frequent crop failures due to the poor climatic conditions caused by extensive destruction of forests which has subsequently destroyed all the water catchment areas. In addition the condition is made worse due to continuous cutting of trees for either charcoal or firewood. Charcoal and firewood form the biggest source of fuel for cooking in these regions. Charcoal burning is also an economic activity in these regions. The two sources of fuel (firewood and charcoal) are environmental hazards in that they pollute the environment through fumes/smoke and gases. There is therefore the need for alternative sources of energy and economic activity that will be able to address the above problems. Based on this, we formed a group to fill the gap. The group has people with different professional backgrounds in Renewable and Biomass energy, Business and others. For the last six months, we have been producing and selling energy efficient household firewood and charcoal stoves. For this year 2019 we want start producing briquettes and building institutional stoves. we want acquire briquetting machine and Transport for moving to different institutions such as schools and hotels to educate them about the benefits of improved energy efficient Institutional stoves. we are therefore looking for partnerships and sponsors to make us achieve our objectives as this will create more employment opportunities for the youth and solve the challenge of climate change.
