SURT is a social economy organisation established in Barcelona (Spain) in 1993. We work to make effective the economic, social and cultural rights of women and eradicate gender discrimination and gender-based violence, promote gender equality and the empowerment of women, their autonomy and leadership. We aim to achieve effectively women’s economic, social and cultural rights by promoting empowerment, autonomy and leadership, with an integral vision that takes into account the different dimensions of empowerment: personal, economic, community and social and political empowerment. We work in Northeastern Spain (Catalonia and the Balearic Islands), as well as in Spanish, EU and international programmes. SURT has coordinated 12 projects co-funded by the EU and participated in other 15 EU-funded projects under different programmes (REC, Daphne, AMIF, Erasmus+, Grundtvig, EuropeAid, ISEC, FP7). We carry out research and develop training and awareness-raising materials on the following issues: gender equality, gender-based violence among youth; the empowerment of young women; gender, migration and citizenship; LGTBI rights; gender analysis of the effects of cultural representations on young women and men, etc.
