Ass. Cult. Breathing Art Company

“The Breathing Art Company” was founded in 2005 by Simona De Tullio and since then has been working to promote the development and diffusion of dance and performing arts in Italy and abroad. The company, recognized by Regione Puglia, has presented works in Germany, Spain, Hungary, Albania, Puerto Rico and in USA (Miami, New York, Charlotte, Newport), developing an international network with Universities, Dance Companies, Academies, Festivals and Conservatories. The main event of the company is the “Premio Internazionale di Danza San Nicola”, a big event focused on dance education of young with scholarships around the world. The company is also heavily involved with the local authorities in activities focused on the rehabilitation through art of youngsters with problems and also with programs for the elderly. These collaborations and projects were made possible thanks to the support from the Municipality, the Region, the Ministry and local authorities. The company is also involved in events and activities in which dance is not the only medium of expression, but the arts in general, connecting different realities to support the community’s growth. All events managed by Breathing Art Company are focused on youth and community involvement, working on different targets of adults too, using dance and arts as tools for new actions and instrument, supporting young with scholarships for their mobility. In Covid emergency the company won the advice “EduCare”, by the Ministry of families, developing the project “L’Abecedario delle Emozione”, a full program of events, workshops, shows and meetings around arts and welfare. In the same period the company won the advice “Bellezza e legalità per una Puglia libera dale mafie”, with the project “Corpi Liberi”, focused on dance education in children schools in unsafe areas to prevent violent phenomena. The company presented a big event with Island Moving Company of Newport (Usa) in Matera (Basilicata) summer festival, using an historical cave as natural stage for performances and educational meeting about historical heritage. The company realized the project “La Palestra della Creatività” for the municipality of Bari, involving families and social spaces to develop a new awareness of citizenship. Since 4 years the company is involved in a local network of no profit organization for the development of a requalified space, Parco Gargasole, where has been developed projects of inclusion, education, dance and gardening for children, especially during summer period with special grants for Summer Campus supported by the city.
