Escape4Change designs and implements game-educational activities involving participants/players in a non-formal cooperative context, tailored to socio-environmental and cultural issues. In line with the principles of 'edutainment' (Educational Entertainment), the game experience takes place in a designated environment (mainly educational Escape Rooms and learning by doing games) where the group has to solve the proposed challenges within a time limit. The aim is to get participants to identify strategies to promote concrete change in the society in which they live. E4C promotes an integrated approach to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in order to actively collaborate in achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 interlinked goals (Agenda 2030), defined by the UN as a strategy "to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all". The SDGs are globally shared goals and in order to achieve them it is necessary to promote actions that support awareness, learning, decision-making and commitment to action. E4C aims at reaching the public through a comprehensive, constructive and integrated approach. E4C promotes non-formal educational interventions that intend to achieve a significant social impact, leading participants to acquire and consolidate skills, develop awareness and consciousness on socio-environmental issues by applying the innovative approach of edutainment (educational entertainment) techniques. These techniques proved to be valid and effective (as they are fun, engaging and inclusive), giving rise to spontaneous referral marketing and word-of-mouth marketing among peers. We have currently implemented 5 physical escape rooms (Circular economy, Climate change, Fight racism, No borders, Urban green), 2 online escape rooms (Circular economy, The phantom menace), 1 cooperative educational game (Beyond the borders). We are developing 3 new physical escape rooms (on the theme of food/nutrition and on the theme of psycho-physical wellbeing) and we are in the planning stage to design and implement new educational game experiences. Our reality was born from an idea of "Associazione Eufemia", experimenting with non-formal education techniques. After the first prototypes of educational games, the methodology was refined and extended to different social, ecological and cultural issues. Today "Escape4Change" is consolidated as a reality in its own right, a spin-off of the association Eufemia (since 2010 Eufemia has been implementing and managing national and international projects, and now has an important experience in non-formal education). For this reason, despite being a newborn reality, the activities are implemented by our staff team since 2018. With more than 2,500 active players, E4C has now consolidated the skills to create fun and educational gaming experiences, as well as boasting expertise in the co-design, implementation and management of several partnership projects.
