Digital Storytelling Unit started its activities with the first facilitator training workshop held in November 2009 at Hacettepe University Faculty of Communication in Ankara, Turkey. In our workshop, academic team members who work within our faculty and have received facilitator training, develop various projects according to their fields of study. They also collaborate with different units of our university and non-governmental organizations and public bodies such as UNWomen, UNICEF, UNHCR Turkey, International Children's Center, spark, SGDD-ASAM Türkiye and etc. In the digital storytelling workshop, participants are helped to create 2.5-3 minute personal autobiographical narratives using multi-media applications. This process is carried out by following various stages guided by the facilitators. Digital storytelling, as an important form for circulating and archiving personal narratives, is a key component of various projects in different regions and countries worldwide. Digital storytelling, which is used for purposes such as social participation, community building, and creating social consciousness, is also the main component of various projects as a method of supporting the therapy of traumatic events. Digital storytelling workshops enable participants to circulate their personal narratives and provide an informal learning environment for improving their digital literacy levels and promoting digital literacy in different segments of society.
