Comité du Rhône et Métropole de Lyon de Basketball

The Rhône & Lyon Metropolis Basketball Committee is a local body of the French Basketball Federation (FFBB). We support more than 110 clubs and over 22,000 members by coordinating development, education, competitions, and community outreach initiatives. Since 2015, the FFBB has expanded its mission to include wider access to sport for all audiences. In this context, our committee plays a leading role in developing innovative basketball practices, such as Basket Santé, inclusive basketball sessions, adaptations for people with disabilities, programs in prisons, and activities for very young children. We work closely with clubs, local authorities, schools, and social organisations to promote accessibility, participation, and social inclusion through sport. Our current strategic focus is to strengthen inclusion within basketball clubs, not only in practice but also in governance, volunteering, coaching and leadership roles. We are now preparing a European project to explore inclusive sport models across Europe, with a specific interest in Scandinavian approaches. Our goal is to learn from good practices, develop tools to support clubs in their inclusion journey, and build long-term partnerships to foster social inclusion through sport. We are looking for partners experienced in inclusive sport, mixed-ability programs, parasport development, community-based initiatives, and organisational change towards inclusion.
