CASTILLA-LA MANCHA ACTIVA is a non-profit, non-governmental organization composed of organizations representing people with disabilities. It is committed to advocating for the rights of people with disabilities and, in a comprehensive and inclusive manner, for the most disadvantaged groups; to reducing social inequalities; to improving the well-being of those who need it most; and to preserving and respecting the environment around us. Throughout its history, it has contributed to improving the living conditions of people with disabilities, focusing its efforts on supporting federations and associations of people with disabilities as a central element in achieving their empowerment and social inclusion. VISION (What we want to become) CASTILLA-LA MANCHA ACTIVA aims to be recognized as a leading organization for its capacity to represent and defend people’s fundamental rights, and as a model of activism against the physical and/or personal circumstances that cause social inequalities, while ensuring the sustainability of the methods, actions, and processes employed at all times. MISSION (Our Purpose) We position ourselves at the forefront of the associative movement as an instrumental body focused on fostering synergies and coordinating all efforts and activities aimed at defending social identity, as well as promoting, raising awareness of, strengthening, and improving the living conditions of disadvantaged groups, their environment, their integrity, safety, and decision-making capacity. PRINCIPLES AND VALUES CASTILLA-LA MANCHA ACTIVA identifies with the principles and values set forth in: • The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948. • The United Nations Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities of 1993. • Recommendation Rec(2006) of the Council of Ministers of the European Union to Member States on the Council’s Action Plan. • The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. And it is particularly committed to achieving its mission and vision by acting in accordance with the values of the 2030 Agenda: Transparency, Efficiency, Effectiveness, Independence, Accountability, Democracy, Solidarity, Equality, Honesty, Diversity, and Respect for human dignity. The organization’s approach has evolved in tandem with the prevailing trends in today’s society, where the focus is on protecting people and the environment.
