Ramuciai Gymnasium Naujoji Akmene

There are about 11,000 inhabitants in our town which is located in the north of Lithuania. Our school is located in the west side of the town and provides the general education. Our Ramuciai Gymnasium is an only gymnasium out of the other three educational institutions which provide education for primary classes (Primary School: 1-4 forms), Basic School for 5-8 formers and Education and Training Centre for adult learners. There are about 500 students in our school aged from 15-18 (19) and about 50 teachers which provide compulsory and optional education subjects. There is a Vocational Guidance Centre in our school to introduce students to the information of certain profession and its specificity; to give them an opportunity to familiarise with the jobs by inviting representatives of different professions. It is known for its mineral recourses and the cement factory in the suburb. This activity is important as students take their final exams and then they have to make their choices in choosing the way of life. The citizenship and prominence of our school, region and country through the work of students and teachers are of the main goals of our school community. Our students are active as they take part in different sorts of projects. Recently, a group of our students has pursued a project proclaiming our region and its rich recourses. It was very useful for our local community, people round the region and all the country. We constantly strive to enable young people from different countries to know their own and other countries' culture and its history by participating in the projects. Students develop their foreign language skills, foster tolerance and friendship among different peoples. They learn to communicate and collaborate, solve problems, and realize their creative abilities at the same time. Our students are willing, active and open to changes in their view of life around the world.
