YIC SLANÝ

DDM "OSTROV" in Slaný is a leisure center for children and youth, the department organizing Erasmus+ programmes is Youth Information Center Slaný (YIC). The aim of YIC is to meet the needs of Youth between 15 and 30 years, to help them to orientate in the information they have access to and to bring the interesting opportunities to them. We provide information and consulting in all relevant areas such as traveling, studying, jobs, Erasmus+ opportunities etc. We believe that it's important for (not only) youth to meet other cultures and open their minds to new experiences and points of views. Hence we are orientated on intercultural acitivities. Together with the EVS volunteers we organize language clubs, cultural evenings, workshops at schools, we attend actions of other local organizations in public. The volunteers visit local library, hobby clubs and school English classes regularly to support cultural awareness and language competences of locals and themselves. They learn Czech language and experience the culture on daily bases. Also they work on mini-projects of their choice according to their own hobbies and preferences. All of these activities are organized and supported by the team, which consist of young workers. We support each other as a team, but also as individuals with their own goals.
