Vocational school Gospić with headquarters in Budačka 24, Gospić dates back to 1993, when it separated from the Nikola Tesla Center for Upbringing and Directed Education. As such, it was founded by the Lika-Senj County. However, the school itself is much older because the forerunner of the school was the "School for Basket Weaving, Wood Carving and Trade and Craft Apprentices" from 1875. In recent history, the school was part of the "Nikola Tesla" Gospić Center for Upbringing and Oriented Education, which was abolished by the Decision of the Government Commissioner on January 29, 1993. On the mentioned date, the Decision on the establishment of high schools in the Gospić Municipality was adopted, namely: Gymnasiums and Vocational Schools. The Government of the Republic of Croatia renovated the building and the students moved in again in 1994. Today, the school is verified for regular high school education of students in the following educational sectors and for the following occupations: mechanical engineering, shipbuilding and metallurgy - three-year professional programs: car mechanic electrical engineering and computing - four-year professional programs: computer technician, electrical technician and three-year professional program: electrical mechanic economics, trade and business administration - four-year vocational program: economist tourism and hospitality - four-year vocational program: tourist hotelier commercialist, three-year vocational programs: waiter and chef transport and logistics - three-year vocational program: motor vehicle driver health and social care - five-year vocational program: general care nurse/general care medical technician geodesy and geoinformatics - four-year vocational program: geodesy and geinformatics technician Within the school there is also a student dormitory. It is intended for students studying at the Gospić Vocational School for various occupations outside their place of permanent residence and at the Gospić Gymnasium. The main activity of the Home is: realization of the program of educational work with the students, implementation of the accommodation and nutrition program of the students, implementation of the cultural and artistic activities of the students, organizing the technical and sports activities of the students, organizing the creative use of the free time of the students and taking care of the psychophysical health of the students. The school was organized by decision of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Class: 602-07/95-01-15 and Registration number: 532-02-2/2-95-01 from February 1, 1995) as a special pedagogical unit for adult education. The implementation and acquisition of secondary education for adults is determined through the following programs: the program for obtaining a secondary vocational qualification, the requalification program and the training and improvement program. A constituent unit of the Vocational School is also the Driving School, for which the reverification procedure was carried out according to the new legal regulations on road transport safety, as evidenced by the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Directorate of Police, number: 511-01-24-UP/I-2781/1-2007 dated 16 July 2007. With this decision, the driving school of the Gospić Vocational School is approved for the training of candidates for category A1, A, B, C and M drivers, i.e. training according to the existing conditions, the training of candidates for the A1, A, B and C category was approved by the decision of the aforementioned ministry Number: 5141-01- 53-UP/I-3080/4-2011 of July 8, 2011. The school cooperates with the Centers of Excellence, namely the Zadar Vocational School for Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and the Karlovac Technical School for Electrical Engineering. The school leadership encourages and provides quality support for diverse activities and cooperation within the school itself and extracurricular cooperation with other institutions, institutions and associations. It is our wish that the Gospić Vocational School be recognized as an educational institution with clear educational goals, which creates responsible people who will be successful and competitive in the labor market, especially in the trades, that is, competent to continue their education.
