Youth Education Committee is an organisation of civil society seated in Belgrade. It aims at compensating for the critical gaps made within the system of formal education: this system contributes to the authoritarian society and obstructs development of critical thinking. Therefore the organization strives to provide the youth in Serbia proper informal education, as well as to address long-term analysis of the formal, evaluate changes and give recommendations to the institutions responsible. The goal of the Youth Education Committee is to equip young people with enough knowledge and skills to ensure their active role in society. The Committee is formed by Belgrade young professionals in political sciences, psychology, media and communications. Current projects: Youth Reconciliation Ambassadors: Three-year Conflict Prevention Programme which aims to provide the young people of the region (Bosnia, Kosovo*, Macedonia, Serbia) with an opportunity to discuss and compare the experiences of their societies with the processes of reconciliation and transition in the region by using the European integration as a tool. Youth Against Corruption: Programme is funded by Norwegian government and it is related to Public Accountability and Anti-Corruption Education. The aim of the programme is to incorporate corruption as phenomena and anti-corruption mechanisms as part of the official curriculum in the education system. Public Accountability Programme This programme brings together young people from all over the Serbia, giving preference to municipalities that are not represented in Parliament, as well to participants from multi-ethnic communities. During this study visit, participants have an opportunity to meet and discuss about numerous issues regarding importance of participation and active citizenship. Future Perspective of the Region is a five-day study visit held in Belgrade followed by three-months follow-up activities. The program gathered 20 high – profile students and young professionals from Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Kosovo*. The goal of the FPoR was to provide young people from the region with an opportunity to discuss and compare the experiences of their societies in the process of transition. Through comparative approach and visits to governmental, non – governmental and academic institutions in Belgrade, they had a chance to come up with common conclusions about the future of European and Euro – Atlantic integration of Serbia and the region, and the perspectives of regional cooperation in future. Also, participants had a chance to exchange ideas about overcoming the biggest obstacles in transition, and spread them further in their communities through the follow up activities. We do have youth magazine www.skrip.org.rs, and we are planning five more programmes for the period releated to Human Rights, Public Accountability, Regional Cooperation, EU Integration, Anti-Corruption and Active Citizenship. We have four full-time employees and fourteen consultants and trainers engaged during a year on project related activities.
