Youth of Gemer is an informal youth group from Slovakia, officially registered in the EU system. We are a collective of motivated young people who believe in the power of non-formal education, intercultural exchange, and active citizenship. Our mission is to create opportunities for young people to learn, connect, and grow in a supportive and inspiring environment. Our group brings together youth from diverse social and cultural backgrounds. What unites us is a common vision: to empower young people, encourage personal growth, and promote values of openness, solidarity, and inclusion. We are committed to making international opportunities accessible to every young person, regardless of their economic, health, or social situation. We focus on creating a safe, open, and friendly space where young people can exchange ideas, build friendships, and develop skills that are useful both personally and professionally. Diversity is one of our strengths – we welcome different perspectives and see them as a way to enrich our learning and teamwork. Our main focus areas are: Psychological well-being and mental health awareness – helping young people find balance, resilience, and strategies for self-development. Non-formal learning – using interactive methods such as workshops, roleplays, outdoor activities, and group discussions to create meaningful experiences. Human rights, inclusion, and diversity – promoting respect, equality, and active citizenship among young people. Youth empowerment – motivating participants to be more active in their communities, take responsibility, and initiate their own projects. Art and creativity – using artistic expression as a tool for self-discovery, intercultural dialogue, and empowerment. We believe art is a powerful way to connect people, encourage creativity, and promote emotional well-being. While we are open to different forms of youth work, we mainly focus on youth exchanges as a key way to connect young people across cultures, encourage mutual understanding, and provide them with unique opportunities for growth and learning. Through our activities we aim to create a safe, inclusive, and creative environment where young people can explore new perspectives, build friendships, and develop lifelong skills. We strongly believe that youth work is about more than just education – it is about inspiration, participation, and positive change.
