BATMAN CİTY COUNCİL

The Batman City Council Youth Parliament was founded in 2004 with the cooperation of the United Nations Development Program and Youth for Habitat Association. The Youth Parliament depends on the City Council and has been created to carry out activities aimed at building and enhancing the capacity of local youth platforms. The Youth Parliament’s main goals are fostering participation of the youth in the formation of national youth policies, developing a social and participant culture and giving them the instruments to acquire different kind of abilities in this field. The Parliament is a place where the youth can have the chance to meet, do and organize social and cultural activities in different fields; in this way they get education by doing, by experiencing. Our target group are mainly youth who are coming from disadvantageous social backgrounds and who don’t have the possibilities to take part in social and cultural activities. We give education in different fields such as language learning, computer studies, music instruments and some other kinds of professions. At the same time we organize youth festivals to let youth to come together and share nice time while learning and confronting with each other.
