Ege Orman Vakfı

Aegean Forest Foundation established in 1995 has over 20.000 nature-friendly volunteers and 35 employees. EOV which has been carrying out activities impartially and equally with institutions from public and private sector, CSOs, media and academic community has a comprehensive knowledge and experience primarily in sustainable development and transition to low-carbon economy. Aegean Forest Foundation has been accredited to UNCCD (United Nations Convention to Combat Climate Change) during the 12th Conference of Parties (COP 12). Embracing this vision, EOV has been collaborating with different stakeholders to strenghen the coordination and participation of CSOs, educational institutions, private sector, farmers, women and younger generations on issues such as protection of nature, deforestation, desertification/land degradation, drought, climate change and loss of biodiversity. In the framework of the protocol signed with İzmir Provincial Directorate of Ministry of National Education, Aegean Forest Foundation has been providing environmental trainings for approximately 25.000 people per year in almost all schools in the city to raise environmentally-sensitive generations. In the eco-system oriented trainings, necessary information to protect nature is given to the participants from all segments of society especially students, via theory and applied methods. By ensuring the parents’ participation, multiplier effect is achieved. Due to different characteristics of the groups and trainings being open to all, it contributes greatly to creating equal opportunity.
