Association "People's Parliament"

Association “People's Parliament” is a very experienced public advocacy NGO from Serbia and is one of the more experienced and active youth-serving organizations from the country. People's Parliament founded during 1999 has strong experience, expertise and resources gathered over 20+ years’ of very active work. The organization possess significant references in many fields, including both working for the benefit of disadvantaged youth with fewer opportunities, as well as empowering political participation of young people, especially in relation to processes connected to youth policies and advocacy in relation to all level of youth-related policies. People's Parliament acts through Human rights and Youth activism areas of activity. The “Youth activism” programme served as the basis for implementation of a several dozen local, national and international youth-serving non-profit projects over 20+ years. Being one of the more experienced and active youth organizations in Serbia, the org served as a resource center organization for the Ministry of youth and sports of Serbia for a decade (2008-2018), supporting implementation of the NYS (National youth strategy) and making it possible for 100+ small projects to be implemented by local youth organizations and non-formal youth groups. Up to this day, the organization has organized 500+ events directly involving 10 000+ young men and women: trainings, seminars, internships and apprenticeships, study visits, lectures, business-development consultancy programs, IT-skills educations, youth policy consultancies, etc. Association “People's Parliament” to this day successfully completed 200+ public advocacy initiatives that resulted in numerous legislative acts and practices of public authority organizations in Serbia to change for the better. Association “People's Parliament” is a legal non-profit entity gathering 140 (latest available data) individual members from Serbia, of all ages. This number of individual members puts the organization into ranks of just few Serbian NGO's having more than a hundred members. At the present organization employs 2 full-time employees and 2 part-time employees with its main offices in town of Leskovac, Serbia. Experienced and employees and volunteers with adequate expertise in different areas are the greatest resource of the organization. The organization is a very active member of the National Convention on the European Union (NCEU) that is a permanent body within which the thematically structured debate on the accession of Serbia to the EU is led among the representatives of the state administration, political parties, independent bodies, non-governmental organizations, experts, industry, trade unions, and professional organizations. The organization is directly involved in the reform of the judiciary system in Serbia, working on strengthening citizens‘ confidence in the work of judicial institutions through development of the dialogue and communication between the citizens and representatives of the judiciary. Association “People's Parliament” was one of the most successful applicant from Serbia within the Youth in Action programme 2007-2013, with 7 approved grants. The org also coordinated 1 centralized Capacity building in the field of youth project and 1 decentralized KA105 - Youth mobility project, approved within Erasmus+ 2014-2020. During this programme, the org was partners in other 6 international youth projects. People's Parliament currently acts as coordinator of international municipal-level youth policy project approved within European Youth Together centralized call of the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 programme.
