Every generation believes it is special, and it is. Today, however, we face a unique challenge. Our very quality of life, and indeed our existence, is under an unprecedented threat due to extreme environmental degradation. This crisis unfolds among hamlets that are struggling to stay alive, caught between escalating land consumption on one side and empty, sleeping, abandoned, undefined or transitioning spaces on the other, spaces that our hamlets are increasingly full of. BRAIN looks at this dual challenge, of hamlets that remain vibrant communities within a healthy, lived-in environment. Here's how BRAIN proposes to reshape our perspectives on territories: • Place young people at the forefront of our decision-making processes, guided by the visionary perspective of the next generation. • Investing in the outdoors and biodiversity as a source of discovery, enhancement, and as integral components of our territorial identity. • Using art, culture, place memory, music and creativity as transformative keys to breathe life into dormant, abandoned or underutilized places within our hamlets. - Art, Visual Experimentation and Digital Creativity. As part of its evolving vision, BRAIN also promotes contemporary artistic experimentation—both visual and digital—as a powerful means of reimagining the rural landscape and community engagement. Through immersive installations, audiovisual storytelling, multimedia performances and site-specific interventions, we explore the intersections of technology, art and nature. These creative practices offer new narrative tools to reinterpret local identity, question the relationships between humans and their environments, and inspire new forms of active citizenship. Digital and visual arts become not just expressions of beauty, but catalysts for ecological awareness, social inclusion and collective imagination—bringing life back to forgotten places and creating new cultural geographies.
