Djapo

Djapo is an educational organisation that empowers children and young people to actively engage with and help shape a complex world. We work in collaboration with schools, youth organisations, cultural actors, civil society organisations and companies. How do children and young people learn to engage with societal challenges such as climate change, social justice and human rights? This question is at the heart of Djapo’s work. Our approach is rooted in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Starting from complex, real-world issues, we invite children and young people to zoom in and out, reflect critically, engage in dialogue and look ahead. In doing so, they develop the skills and confidence needed to think systemically, take informed positions and act responsibly. We see educational, youth and cultural contexts as key practice spaces for ESD. That is why we develop pedagogically grounded learning materials and support teachers, youth workers and other professionals through coaching and guidance, enabling them to work confidently with these materials in their daily practice.
