Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Medicine

Our Faculty was founded on March 1, 1978 under the name İzmir Faculty of Medicine affiliated with Ege University, and following the establishment of Dokuz Eylul University on July 20, 1982, it became part of Dokuz Eylul University. Our Faculty continues to pursue continuous development by maintaining high standards in education, research, and healthcare services while observing social responsibilities, and it sustains its leading role in medical education at the national level. The Medical Education Program was first accredited by the National Medical Education Accreditation Board in 2011 and received the European Union Diploma Supplement Label in 2013. The Integrated PhD Program, which provides medical students with opportunities to participate in scientific research and to acquire research skills from the early stages of their careers, was launched in the 2022–2023 academic year. The program is carried out under the Faculty of Medicine in collaboration with the Institute of Health Sciences (IHS) and the International Biomedicine and Genome Institute (IBG), and currently includes Integrated PhD Programs in six academic departments. Within the scope of Student Study Modules, numerous social responsibility and research projects are conducted under the coordination of faculty members from various departments. A total of 34 boards operate within the Faculty of Medicine, including Ethics Committees, Research Committees, Education Committees, Sociocultural Committees, General Assemblies, and an External Advisory Board. Within the fields of Basic Medical Sciences, Internal Medical Sciences, and Surgical Medical Sciences, the Faculty comprises a total of 44 Departments and 46 Divisions, all of which continue their education, research, and service activities in line with institutional objectives. The academic staff of the Faculty of Medicine consists of 1,590 academic personnel, including 420 faculty members and lecturers, along with 74 administrative staff members.
