Büyükçekmece Belediyesi

The Büyükçekmece Municipality was established on February 19, 1958, initially as a sub-district. While it was primarily an agricultural and resort town, it rapidly developed after 1980, and its population increased accordingly. Büyükçekmece became a district on July 4, 1987, and as a result of urban development initiatives launched in 1994 (sewerage and rainwater drainage systems, wastewater treatment plants, parks and landscaping, undergrounding of energy and communication lines, lighting, completion of zoning plans), it is today a modern European city.
