The founder of “YWCA” in Gyumri is “Flora” ecological NGO, which realized a number of projects, and has its contribution in solving ecological problems and creating moral-psychological humanitary field during 10 years of its activity. Leading with Christian morals the members of “ Flora” NGO brought new meaning and style into their work stressing the importance of Christian education and influence not only for a man’s spiritual but also social life. The main problem the NGO works for is the increasing of Armenian women’s role in different fields of life. Periodicaly implements different trainings and consultations in communities of the Shirak region. Mission • Christian lifestyle- love, mutual understanding and prosperous life • Rising authority and role of women in all fields • Activating women’s inner power in process of stabilization and development of civil community and democracy Leading Principle Woman is an orbit around which civilization is moving. Goal 1. To create a field of equal rights in community between man and women 2. To support the process of cleaning and protecting environment via rising public awareness by practical activities and advocacy 3. To work on development and strengthening of community 4. To support the youth in choosing specialty by organizing trainings and discussions. Strategy Providing women with information, skills and training to lead change. Mentoring other women, sharing knowledge, offering inspiration, encouraging boldness and believing in our ability to make a difference. Volunteerism is strongly encouraged among the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries of our NGO are girls, women and children who reside in the city of Gyumri and the Shirak region. Our NGO intends to enable women and girls to access information, resources and services in support of their human rights. We want to provide girls and women with knowledge and skills to improve their health, develop economic independence and increase their involvement in life outside the family unit. We develop partnerships with men and boys to enable them to recognize the negative effect of gender inequalities on their own lives, change how they view and treat women and girls, and to see the benefits of gender equality for us all. We educate ourselves and others about the impact of violence and conflict on women and girls in our communities. The organization actively collaborates with local NGOs and state structures.
