SKUNK

SKUNK is a non-governmental youth organization for archipelago youth. The target group is 7 - 25 years, but the main target group is 12-20 years. SKUNK is a youth organization that builds on young people's own ideas. It is primarily based on "Young leads young" but also that the organization engages skilled adults for various purposes. SKUNK is led by a board where most members are between 16 - 20 years. SKUNK works for: * improving archipelago young people's opportunities for stimulating leisure and cultural activities, * strengthening youth involvement and accountability in matters that concern them, * to guard archipelago young people's interests and strengthen young people's influence on the development in the archipelago, * to change adults' view of young people so that they will be seen as resources in the community, * to strengthen the cooperation between young people from different parts of the archipelago, and also between young people from all over the Åland Islands and the rest of the world, * to support various forms of cooperation in order to develop and expand their opportunities for stimulating and interesting recreational leisure activities, based on the young people's own ideas and involvement. The most activities are camps and outreach activities in schools and on the islands. The organisation have a part time working director for leading the organisation, and have a full time youth coach employed.
