ARCI RIETI APS

ARCI is the Italian cultural and recreational Association, an independent association of social and civil promotion. It is composed of 4.401 clubs and over 1.000.000 members. The history and the values of ARCI have their roots in the 19th century tradition of mutual solidarity and people’s self-organizing capacity, it's the union of people sharing interests, political ideas of democracy ARCI – Comitato territoriale di Rieti was born in 2001 as an association of social and civil promotion. It works to support the most vulnerable such as: immigrants (Sprar and Siproimi projects), marginalised people and children (solidarity activities). It works to disseminate a solidarity culture in terms of promotion of Rights, (The National Refugee Day; The week against Racism, meeting at schools, promotion of LGBT+ rights) empowerment of the disadvantaged groups, social responsability. ARCI is committed in the promotion of civil and democratic commitment, for asserting peace and the rights of citizenship as well as to fight any form of exclusion and discrimination. In addition the experience of our association is growing year by year in the youth field, with the aim to give young people their place in the society and in the community , developing their professional and personal skills. Arci Rieti works in the promotion of Youth Action, Youth Policies with projects like the Civil Service , the Europeon Voluntary Service (since 2015) and the Europeoan Solidarity Corps projects OUR Regular ACTIVITIES and PROJECTS ARE: SOCIAL POLICY and IMMIGRATION ARCI Rieti makes part of the national net of the Protection System for Beneficiaries of International Protection and for Unaccompanied Foreign Minors (Siproimi, ex sprar). It runs two projects in Rieti Province: Rieti and Passo Corese which ensure “integrated reception” activities to asylum seekers,holders of international protection and unaccompanied foreign minors. Arci, under the provisions of integrated reception measures provides them social assistance activities to gain a better knowledge of the territory and access to local services (i.e. social and health assistance). In addition, activities are conceived to ease the learning of Italian, adult education, access to schools for minors , further legal guidance support. In this field, Arci Rieti regularly organizes awareness campaigns to promote the rights of refugees and foreing people, together with meetings with students and young people of the community SENSIBILITY AND SOLIDARITY: These principles are spread to the community through several cultural and social activities such as: cinema events on social matters (in the Arci office), book presentations, school meetings to raise awareness in the youngest ; partnerships with public bodies (Comune di Rieti, schools) and with other voluntary associations like Caritas Diocesana di Rieti, CSV Rieti. With CSV every year we sign an agreement for a collaboration in the promotion of Solitarity and Volunteering; we have organized for example “Rieti senza Barriere”; “ The Volunteering Day”; meetings with young participants in the local Civil Service projects together with our previous esc volunteers. RECREATIONAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES - Artistic and creative workshops for children and adults as well as training courses (together with our clubs in Rieti), every year from October to June. - the Social Theatre laboratories with the Siproimi minors and the esc volunteers (with the external collaboration of a professional youth worker and art therapist)- oriented on the expression of emotions and the analysis of their experiences. YOUTH POLICIES - Erasmus + EVS and ESC volunteering projects since 2015. ARCI Rieti strongly believes European Volunteers, with their different cultures, points of view, experiences and passions, are a very valuable resource to reach and create important social, cultural relationships with young people of the Rieti community as well as with minors of the Siproimi project.
