Youth Association "Me, You and They"

Youth Association „ME, YOU and THEY” has been founded in Focșani, Romania, in 1999, to provide equality of opportunities in society by volunteering activities, civic participation, youth and social responsibility projects. Our association develops projects which involve social activism, citizen journalism and civic participation related to anti-corruption, good governance, violence in schools, disability rights and support, human trafficking and discrimination. Our interests include international volunteering, communication, multilingualism, multiculturalism, active citizenship, environment, new technologies and media. The youth association "Eu, tu și ei" Focșani is involved in many public activities, which have as main purpose supporting the youth in their effort of fully integrating in our society, in their struggle against any type of discrimination, in general, and especially against rroma discrimination, raising awareness and promoting the democratic standards, civil liberties and political rights. We initiated these campaigns to increase public awareness, to give a voice to the silent disadvantaged people. In 2012, in order to empower the younger generation, we started our main project, named "Youngsters in (Re)Action" Journalism Club”. In this, more than 20 young people - pupils and students- including youngsters from disadvantaged communities, work together in civic, social, cultural and journalistic projects. Our goal is to support the values of local democracy and to promote youth interest in our community agenda. In 2016, we opened a public library in a small village from Carpathian Mountains. Also, in 2015, after a long press and advocacy campaign, together, we managed to change the inhumane conditions in which the children from the Paediatrics Department of the County Emergency Hospital “Saint Pantelimon” Focsani were treated. This is the only children hospital from Vrancea County. Also, we organize motivational and career orientation conference for youth. Personalities from the media and the cultural and political environment have participated in our meetings and debates. Moreover, we intend to multiply this experience in our cooperation with NGO's, journalists, communities and minority groups. Our association is the only one developing in our county such a broad spectrum of activities, therefore it is greatly recognized at the national level. Our main goal is to bring people together in order to learn from each other and to show that we are a united, responsible community.
