The unit of culture and participation

Enhet for kulturformidling og deltagelse (unit of culture and participation) is responsible for providing cultural services in the local community, mainly to children and youth, mentally disabled, and people with mental health problems. We manage local culture houses, and follow up local non-profit organizations with guidance and grants. The unit works in the cultural and non-formal educational fields, and promotes a wide variety of music, art, dance and film in Bergen, Norway. The culture department has years of experience in organizing creative workshops, cultural events, projects, programs, courses for the local community. Our activities are based on the approaches of non-formal education, cultural and intercultural learning, and social inclusion. The activities include, but are not limited to: educational projects of different types (e.g. training courses, seminars, workshops etc); capacity building of youth organisations and organisations/institutions working with young people and youth workers; coaching of initiatives, organisational and individual coaching; personal and professional development; networking and cooperation. We also provide young people with the possibility to take part in youth-exchange projects, international trainings and seminars. Knutepunkt Møllaren is a youth club run by Enhet for kulturformidling og deltagelse (unit of culture and participation). We focus on being an open meeting point for local youth aged 13-16. No skills are required in the club, but we offer courses in subjects like photo, silk screen printing, barista coffee making etc.
