AO "Demos"

Essential Information about the Community Organization “Demos” NGO “Demos” activated in October 2001 with the idea of being a social institution destined to imnplement democratic principles in community life. The NGO has held activities in diverse domains, but gives priority to the following: Children and Youth, Social, and Human Rights. The organization’s founder consists of a group of young, socially active people from Edinet. The NGO has a team composed of a variety of professions including professors, psychologists, lawyers, and doctors. Members of the NGO have participated in instruction programs and have accumulated professional experience both at national and international levels (Romania, France, Poland, Belgium, and Slovenia). NGO “Demos” actively collaborates with the Local Public Administration, educational institutions, mass-media, and local and national NGOs. In addition, the organzation partners with the mayor’s office in finding solutions for youth problems. The NGO is a member of different national associations including the Alliance of NGOs active in the Social Protection of Children and Families, the Network of NGOs from the Social Domain, the Network of Centers for Friendly Services for Youth, National Youth Council of Moldova and the Network of Local Youth Councils. Organizational mission: To create opportunities for informing, education, and developing life skills in youth and promoting their participation in community life. Organizational objectives:  Cultivating moral and ethical values in human society.  Granting friendly youth services.  Creating conditions for developing the creative and intellectual potential of children and youth and promoting gifted youth.  Creating a center, clubs of social roles, culture, etc.  Making others aware of and spreading a healthy way of life.  Forming life skills.  Informing, documenting, researching, and consulting in domains that hold the interest of youth.  Professional orientation and educational training in line with youth.  Favoring social integration of youth from minority groups and protecting their rights.  Providing informational, legal, social, and psychological assistance to marginalized youth and victims of family violence.  Eradicating human trafficking.
