Xeimerino

SOMATEIO ERASITEXNIKIS KALATHOSFAIRAS “TO XEIMERINO” (hereby mentioned as “XEIMERINO”) is a non-profit organization established with the basic aim to promote amateur basketball in Cyprus. and to enhance the access of amateur basketball players to sports events and championships. Its scope of activities focuses on the organization of amateur basketball tournaments and championships, while also expanding in activities for education, training, and skills development of the of amateur basketball athletes and other professionals and individuals involved in amateur basketball. XEIMERINO emerged from the collaboration of eight (8) amateur basketball teams, organising the first XEIMERINO AMATEUR BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP (XABC) in season , with the participation of the eight (8) founding teams and approx. 150 athletes. Currently, XEIMERINO marks its second year since its official establishment as an NGO, and its 4th year in the organisation of XEIMERINO AMATEUR BASKETABLL CHAMPIONSHIP (XABC), the main and largest in size amateur basketball Championship in Cyprus, including four (4) different sports organizations running in season : three (3) Amateur Basketball Championships (Lefkosia Men, Limassol Men and Women's) and the 1st Pancyprian Amateur Basketball Cup. In total, 34 Teams and 550 Basketball Players currently take place in the XEIMERINO activities with more than 300 games being organised across Cyprus during the season . All XABC events are conducted with respect for the FIBA rules and are based on the principles of transparency, ethics, unanimity and fair play. The main goal and vision of XEIMERINO is to establish XEIMERINO AMATEUR BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP (XABC) as a model and reference point for amateur basketball in Cyprus and to promote its interconnection with amateur championships abroad. XEIMERINO operates under a robust organisational structure (see graph below) and strong strategic guidance provided by its principal founding team, represented in its Board of Directors. Its day-to-day activities are supported by a significant number of volunteers (including the Members of its BoD and additional volunteers). In addition to the above, its activities are supported by professionals, experts and subcontractors and service providers (communication, health and safety, legal, financial, etc) who have the responsibility for specific tasks and activities, as well as its sponsors. All activities of XEIMERINO take place in close collaboration with stakeholder organisations, such as the basketball Federation in Cyprus, basketball sports clubs, professional associations for referees, game officials, etc.
