Association for the Advancement of disabled Metline (AADM)

Due to the important role of associations in the state policy to the advancement of the handicapped and since the 11 February 2000 ,date of its creation, the Handicapped Advancement Association Metline is introduced into the assisting process for the handicapped in the region and especially the support and integration in the social, educational and economic life. OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION: The association's main purpose: - The integration of disabled people into social and economic life; - The orientation of handiccaped families and their health culture; - Education and teaching to allow integration opportunities; - Professional training. EFFECTIVES: The association currently involves 300 handicapped "of all handicaps" Including 130 in the city of Metline. ACTIVITIES OF THE ASSOCIATION: With sincere belief in the role of associations in social and at complementarity with the policy of the state to the advancement of handicapped, the director committee has sincerely worked for the achievement of predetermined objectives and to raise local, regional and national environment on the importance of integration handicapped in social life. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES: -1- Family orientation and health culture: Social care and health of the handicapped and their families is the main concern of the association that wants to introduce it into those programs namely: - Supervision of the families of handicapped so that they take care of their children and integrate them into society. - The members visit to the families and organize discussion seminars with them. - The opening of a fixed weekly clinic in the center to ensure the holding of specific medical records at the center. - Establish statistics on handicapped people in the region and keeping the monitoring records. -2- Events: To participate in the integration of handicapped people in social life, the association: - Organizes excursions for students and their families; - Participates in local, regional and national meetings; - Participates in the National Children's Day; - Participates in regional exhibitions of handicapped; - Participates in courses organized by the National Institute for the advancement of handicapped. REHABILITATION CENTER OF HANDICAPPED METLINE: Since its creation, our association has prioritized these concerns education and rehabilitation of disabled children. With the involvement of local and regional authorities and the Regional Direction of Social Affairs, the Committee was able to create a rehabilitation center in Metline in record time to know the 2000/2001 school year (the year of creation of the association) . -1- Principal Environment: In 2000 and for the opening of the center, the association hired a local downtown. In 2004, the municipality has left us a 1760m2 of land to build a center of natural environment composed of a ret floor and first floor of a covered area of 1600m e 2 Composed of: * Ret floor: - Special education center (area 350 m2) -An Administration -A multidisciplinary Room -A kitchen -A restaurant * First Floor: -A hostel of 6 double-rooms -A multipurpose room -A learning center Currently, the association did not realize that the special education center that can accommodate fifty handicapped. The administrative part is under construction (foundation). The first floor will be carried out according to availability of funding -2- Equipment: The association has equipped the center with equipment essentials -3- EFFECTIVES: To manage the center, the association recruited: - 1 Director of the Centre - 2 specialized Educationalists - 1 specializes Physical Educator - 1 psychologist - 1 Cook - 1 Driver - 1 Guardian -4- Students: T he center is currently disabled 32 handicapped divided into 4 groups: - A group of children garden - A group of rehabilitation - A group in the field of vocational training - A group for the integration of disabled people in schools -5- The activities of the center: - The rehabilitation of handicapped - School integration of handicapped - Vocational Training (fabric painting, cooking, pottery, tapestry and crochet.) INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF THE ASSOCIATION: - Organization of a Euro-Mediterranean Seminar "For a closer intercultural relations among young people with handicapped" from 17 to 22 October, 2003 - Organization of a Euro-Mediterranean youth exchange "Shadows of the Mediterranean youth Euromed illuminate" from December 12 to 22, 2004 - Hosting a young Italian volunteer in the context of Action 2 of the Euromed Youth Program January-August 2005
