Borås Municipality, District Dept West, section for Culture & Leisure

The Municipality of Borås, District Dept West, Section for Culture and Leisure is working with the influence and participation of youth in society on multiple levels. We work with young people who visit our Youth Clubs, this is a central gathering point for young people to meet and socialize. The visitors are of different ages, origins and have a mixture of experiences in their luggage. We also work with young people’s influence by local advisory council for youth, where young people can have a voice in matters that concern them. Other activity areas concerning a Project office, where young people 16-25 have the change to plan their own project, get help with job applications and CV writing, take part in international activities etc. We mainly work with young people from harder socio-economic background, trying to open up the world of opportunities. We are working on strengthen youths as a group as well as individuals, trying to get them to cross geografical, as well as mental, borders. For this reason, we see the Convention on the Rights of the Child as a fundamental premises for our work on every level of the organisation.
