CASAL DE JOVES DE SANT JUST DESVERN

Casal de Joves is based in the town `Sant Just Desvern´(Barcelona). As a municipal youth center, we have 3 profiles: 1. A safe and non-formal space for local youngsters In this profile, Casal de Joves both has a role as a meeting place for youngsters as well as being an organizer for youngsters. The possibilities that are brought by participation in our activities are very diverse: artistic workshops, sports, cultural workshops (theatre, music, dance and circus) and leisure activities (concerts, games and cinema). In this objective Casal de Joves is responsible for listening to the interests and needs that the youngsters from Sant Just Desvern have. It’s a place where everybody is welcome and where the voices and wills of the youngsters are the focus. Through activities, debates, training, expositions, local events and sport competitions Casal de Joves introduces youngsters to the global politics of the municipality and supports them in the process to their emancipation and personal autonomy. Everything is done with respect for individual space, proximity and optimism. 2. A space for local (youth) organizations Casal de Joves is also a ´host´ for activities and meetings done by different non-profit organizations from the village. Together with Casal’s team these organizations as well as youth associations create activities and events in which the town is involved. The principal aim of this cooperation work is to assist on initiatives managed by people from the town in which inclusion is guaranteed. For Casal it’s very important to create networks between youngsters and the rest of the population to work as a speaker for the youth needs and interests. 3. European mobilization In this profile, Casal de Joves has 2 roles. First we are an 'informant' for youngsters about the different posibilities within the Erasmus+ mobility program. This service has been offered since september 2012 and has motivated youngsters of our youth center to become interested in European programs and the culture of neighboring countries. Casal de Joves’ information service explains the European mobility programs for individuals and for groups with the objective of becoming educated about the multicultural character of our continent, so as to share and live experiences with youngsters from other countries and of similar interests. Secondly, we are a partner and creator within the Erasmus+ mobility program. We have been a partner of various Erasmus+ projects through which 58 youngsters from 12 to 24 years old have been directly beneficiaries. Furthermore, we have been a creator of youth exchanges since 2014. Working within these 3 profiles we provide young people an opportunity to engage themselves in all cultural practices and exchanges that take place in their village. We try to make this participation as valuable as possible. For this we use different social media channels such as a website, Facebook, Instagram and a blog. All activities that take place within Casal de Joves search to cover an intercultural dimension to be open to the public regardless of their origin, background status or other grounds for differentiation.
