Associazione Me.R.I.D.I.E.S. – Meetings, Researches and Initiatives for the Development of Identitary Environments and Societal system

MeRIDIES is a no-profit association aiming at designing, developing, promoting and implementing different socio-cultural and cultural policy projects, actions and activities shared with various public and private organization and stakeholders, for the benefit of Young people and Citizenry, first of all, and also other NGOs, educational sector organizations, individual as well as collective social actors of the regional, Italian and European communities and territories. After having realized some project at sub-regional scale in Sicily, the current primary commitment of MeRIDIES is represented by the implementation of the Project "ABACUS - Activation of Cultural Basins in Sicily", funded by the Regional Administration of Sicily (Italy) - Department for Family, Social Policy and Labour, and by the Presidency of the Italian Ministry Council - Department of Youth Policy and Civil Service, an initiative of socio-cultural value devoted to Young People, both Students and NEET from 17 to 20 years old, of the territory of the two "Cultural Basins" of the Oreto River (within the Palermo administrative province) and the Belìce River (within the two administrative provinces of Agrigento and Trapani), in the western part of the Sicily region. Through the actuation of its own wide action&activity program, the ABACUS Project is being carried out by MeRIDIES as a territorial research and technological reference partner within a Temporary special purpose Consortium (https://www.baciniculturalisiciliani.eu/the-abacus-project-on-dsi4eu-the-european-digital-social-innovation-web-platform/). The primary scope of MeRIDIES and the ABACUS Project partnership is to engage proactively both Students and NEET in co-creating and acting individually and collectively through a self-elected and maintained "community of knowledge and interpretation" of the socio-cultural, economic and environmental values of their own native/elective territories and urban or rural contexts, namely the "ABACUS Community".
