CulturePolis is a nonprofit Civil Society Organization founded in 2006 in the island of Corfu, Greece by former EU officers and other professionals having as main aim to contribute to research, dialogue and initiatives coupled with information/awareness raising and targeted action in cooperation with all kinds of organisations public and private, on issues related to: (i) arts and culture in the broadest sense (ii) intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity (iii) sustainable development and social cohesion (iv) cultural and creative economy (v) innovative approaches and new technologies in the field of culture and cultural tourism CulturePolis operates offices in Corfu and Athens and has been active in Europe, Balkans and the Mediterranean Basin and has designed and implemented numerous national, European and International projects as lead or project partner; focusing mainly on Heritage Management, Cultural and Creative Industries -CCI’s, innovative cultural tourism products, innovative artists’ platforms; Civil Society and Youth; Social Inclusion; including promotion of Accessibility in culture, Innovation and ICTs. In addition, CulturePolis since 2020 has inaugurated a center aiming to strengthen and promote cultural elements between Arabic and Greek culture for a better understanding of "what unites us, rather than those that separate us", which is a new established autonomous initiative under the umbrella of CulturePolis. The purpose of this new initiative is to launch actions to understand the "other" through its culture and literature. It is an open attempt to analyze and study the relations and interactions between Greek and Arabic cultures mainly through scientifically translated Arabic literature and without influences from political, religious aspirations and other expediencies. In its main activities are included open events, workshops, the creation of a digital book club, etc.
