INSIEME PER L'AUTISMO

The association INSIEME PER L’AUTISMO (TOGETHER FOR AUTISM) was founded in 2019 in Castellazzo Bormida, a small municipality in northern Italy (Alessandria, Piedmont). The association was founded by educators and social workers with professional experience in the field of disability, and more specifically in the autism spectrum disorder. The mission of the association is to support people with cognitive disabilities (with a particular focus on autism) and their families through education and welfare, as well as promoting social inclusion and awareness about mental disorders among the population. To achieve this mission, the association organizes educational activities, training courses, congresses, and fundraising events. The target group of the association is people with mental disability (adults, teenagers, and children) and their families. Additionally, some of the organization’ s activities are targeted educators, social workers, teachers and medical professionals. During the last year INSIEME PER L’AUTISMO organized a training course about education and habilitation of autistic people for social and medical professionals, which counted 250 participants, and the congress “AUTISMO, FACCIAMO IL PUNTO” aimed at promoting awareness of autism on the territory. It has also supported the opening of the new center for disability “IL CAVALIERE BLU”. The association works in the territory of Alessandria and neighboring municipalities, focusing especially on the area of Castellazzo Bormida, where it is based. The institution works in synergy with local authorities and local stakeholders, collaborating with the Municipality of Castellazzo Bormida, the Consortium of Social Services of Alessandria (CISSACA), the EDOS group, Castellazzo Soccorso Association, and the Sacra Famiglia Onlus Foundation (of which it moves the method scientific, inspired by the methodology of Prof. Lucio Moderato, one of the world's leading experts in the field of Autism).
