GO2_Sustainable Urban Planning Organization

GO2 was founded in 2012 by a group of urban planning experts from various disciplines, and it is one of the main actors in urban planning in Albania. Its mission is focused on better quality of life in our communities, and more specifically in Shkoder region. For 10 years, it is engaged on built and natural environment issues, the cultural heritage and sustainable tourism development. It contributes to built environment as well as land use working mainly with local youth and young professionals dealing with urban development, youth engagement, and gamification tools for urban planning. Several projects have been implemented by national and international donors, supporting the creativity and innovation in tourism sector, as one of the strongest potentials for the familiar economies in the region, like: Tourism Center in Theth National Park (Albanian Alps), tourism artisans entrepreneurship support for Zadrima region, VIJA_monthly journal for protected areas communities in north of Albania, KULLA, and cultural landscape in Theth research, National Park. In 2020, #GO2Innovation Supporting Organization was established by EU Fund, involving more than 70 SMEs in Shkoder region and about 30 students from VET School focused on cultural tourism and agrobusiness. ISO is supporting them on promotion and marketing and in networking: www.go2albania.org/go2innovation/ Activities: • Promotes sustainable urban development planning and management through plans and projects linking green space, multi-modal transport systems and urban regeneration; Promotes sustainable development models in the tourism sector by creating and delivering innovation and tourism services; • Awareness raising of youth and citizens about their contribution and rights to a more viable city, as well as involvement in decision making; • Creates a network and collaborates with public and private educational, professional and business organizations and institutions with similar areas of activity, and establishes links between the public sector, business, civil society and citizens in the function of the GO2 mission; • Organizes research and scientific work and projects, data processing and technical expertise in its fields of activity; • Informs and educates the general public by preparing and publishing materials in all multimedia formats for its fields of activity; • Organizes conferences, public hearings, trainings, lectures and practices in the areas of GO2 activity as well as in other areas relevant to the sustainability and success of the work of civil society representatives, public institutions and the private sector.
