Open Ground is an informal group of young people based in Fontainebleau, France, bringing together individuals aged 15–30 who are committed to creating positive change in their local community. The group believes that every young person should have access to safe, inclusive and welcoming spaces where they can express themselves, develop new skills and actively participate in society. Our main aim is to empower young people through non-formal education, peer learning and youth-led initiatives. We encourage active citizenship, social inclusion and democratic participation while supporting personal development, emotional well-being and intercultural dialogue. We pay particular attention to involving young people with fewer opportunities and ensuring that everyone has equal access to learning and participation. Our activities include discussion circles, creative workshops, peer support sessions, community initiatives, intercultural exchanges and awareness-raising events. We also promote environmental responsibility and responsible digital participation, encouraging young people to contribute to sustainable communities and use digital tools critically and safely. All activities are designed with young people and implemented through participatory, experiential learning methods. Open Ground aims to strengthen young people's confidence, leadership, teamwork and communication skills while fostering solidarity, mutual respect and long-term engagement in community life. Through local and international cooperation, the group seeks to inspire young people to become active citizens capable of creating meaningful social impact.
