The Town Hall of Tortona is a Municipal Administration, with an active Youth Policies Office that is working, since a few years, on a “Youth Project” that aims at improving the autonomy of young people in making youth projects and in cooperating with public bodies (local youth centre, boy scouts, informal school groups, etc.). Moreover the Youth Policies Office helped to create, almost 10 years ago, a Youth Council, which is an institution and instrument of active citizenship, a sort of forum for any kind of consultation between municipality and young people. The Youth Policies office works on social difficulties such as racial and intercultural integration, women rights, schools and free-time and in the past years developed many policies on youth employment and employability. Adults and young people working with the Youth Policies office also took part in different training courses about youth policies and peer to peer/informal/non formal education as well as in many different Youth in Action programs (since almost 20 years). We’ve been organising different Actions (1.1 - 1.2 - 1.3 - 5.1) and we also have volunteer activities (in schools, at the youth centre and through the national civil service). Moreover, in June 2008 the municipality of Tortona has opened a new local Youth Centre. The Youth Centre Off realises many different cultural activities, sport activities, event and so on.
