Donor Network of Serbia, as the only one association (NGO) of such kind at territory of the Republic of Serbia was founded on November 23rd and registered on December 16th 2009 in Leskovac and conducts its activities as at territory of the Republic of Serbia as well at territory of the rest of world. DNS is a voluntary, non-governmental and non-profit organization, established for an indefinite time in order to achieve objectives in the areas of: health care, transplantation medicine, education, informing and improvement of life standards and civil rights. DNS mainly provides information about and promotion of organ donation and transplatation. Basic idea is to all people get united, specially youth, regardless of their professional or any other orientation, so all of us could work together on this global and at the first place human topic. There are many ways it to be done and each of them requires specific duties, so in the sense everyone could find him/herself in the part of whole story. DNS encourages and coordinates the activities of its members to achieve common goals, in accordance with the Constitution and laws. The objectives of DNS are: - Networking of all segments of society in the country and from abroad in accordance with the objectives of DNS, the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Serbia - Promotion, improvement of informing and education of publics and health staff, especially young people about the importance of post mortal organ donation in the purpose of treatment procedures for the purpose of treatment by a transplant procedure, - Education in the area of knowledge of diagnosis of brain death and other procedures in the process of transplantation, - Education of Organ transplant educators, - Promotion of medical and economic benefits of transplantation, - Explaining the ethical aspects of donation and collection of bodies, - Coordination between the public and health sectors, - Promotion of transplantation medicine in general. By starting from fact that topic DNS is dealing with was always tabooed, as in the rest of the world as well as in Serbia, we are aware that a very hard road is in front of us.
